Add-ons are separate policies or cover extensions that are added to the standard policy to enhance the cover.
An example of an add-on is Legal Expenses cover or Breakdown cover or Credit Card Protection etc...
Sometimes these add-ons are included with an insurance policy at extra charge without you specifically requesting it and you have to 'opt out' of the cover or are not given an option to opt out at all. Sometimes, these policies are not suitable or appropriate to your needs because, for example, you may already have the cover elsewhere.
Mid Counties Brokers have never issued add-ons to a policy for an additional premium without the customers knowledge or consent. We only ever provide additional policies such as legal expenses, protected bonus, breakdown cover etc if it has been specifically requested by the customer first.
Sometimes, these 'add-ons' are provided by the insurers themselves as part of the policy and, where any extra premium is being charged for this, the insurers are changing their cover so that this no longer happens and you will instead need to request the extra cover. However, if the additional cover is provided at no extra charge it may remain in place.
